G'day all
The car is a Ford DA 1989. I tested driving 241Ks with 42.5Ls = 17.63Ls to 100Ks. I have adjusted the idle as per the manual, now I'd like to check and adjust the voltage from the TPS. My problem is the TPS is behind the throttle body close to the engine block. How do you prick the green and red wires to read the voltage. There is not enough space. I had thought to remove the throttle body, ad a couple of extension wires and re install the TB. The problem would be if I had to rotate the TPS to get the correct voltage reading I'm back to square one to loosen the screws, not enough space.

There must be a way even if it's a hard one.

I get code 32 which is TPS. And no other code

I'll be grateful for any help

Chicho

Back-probe the wires at the ECU....best of luck adjusting the TPS, though.

Just buy a new TPS, install as they are non adjustable much simpler idea.

Hi there
Is this the same thing as TPS? I'm wandering as they use a different name for it.

Thanks

Hi again
I tested the voltage in pin 47, I got 0.2 volt. The manual recommends 1.0 V, somewhere in this forum they say .98, .99V. That is far off the target.

I still want to know the answer to the previous post, are they the same thing?

Thanks

Sounds like it...don't know why they don't just call it a TPS.....how hard is it, eh?

tps volt should be between 0.7-0.9.. and you can adjust the tps just drill out the metal sleaves and enlarge holes i did this years ago to mine and mine is set to 0.9 to get rid of the rev hang.

green machine, did you have to remove the throttle body to unscrew the TPS?

couldn't you remove the throttle body enough to get the TPS away from the dizzy to give you room to adjust it?

if you have set the idle as per manual and the tps voltage is out and your getting a fault code , just replace it..
while drilling it out and adjusting it works if the idle speed has been bumped up due to no isc ect..
if you drill the isc and its already faulty, when you adjust it the idle voltage it will be correct but the mid range and full throttle voltage will be out....
i would also check the full throttle voltage..
on closed throttle the tps voltage should be 0.7v +or-0.15 so from 0.55v to 0.85v is within specs and full throttle should be between 3.5v and 5v but 4.4v is the recomended voltage..

Thank you all for the advice and kind replies. I will be doing it slowly as my bad back lets me. I bought a Z screwdriver to try removing the screws without removing the TB. I'll keep you posted. I don't drive a lot these days but I enjoy a good smooth quiet engine.

Thanks all

G'day again

Yesterday I drove about 300 Ks on the highway, it felt good. The trip computer said 13.2 Ls to 100 Ks. I checked the codes again and this time gave me code 21 Coolant Temperature Sensor, both, KOEO and KOER. What I'm wandering is if I miss read the codes before. If that's the case the CTS is cheaper and easier to change.

Would anyone like to comment?

Thanks
