hey all, i'm looking to do some serious modding to by stock BA XT in the next 6 months or so, and i wanna get the most amount of power out of it without going forced induction, here's what i had in mind.

-2.5" cat back exhaust
-pacemaker extractors
-CAI, either SS or typhoon intake
-up the compression a little bit by shaving the head
-cam upgrade
-CAPA flash tune

so i wanna know 2 things, what else would people recommend to get the max power outta my BA without forced induction, and how much power i would be able to make with the above mods? it's an auto btw!

thanks.

i know its an auto but if converted to manual you can get slight gains on a dyno through less driveline loss... (slightly)..

A stall converter will help your launches off the line.. buwont realy change power out put of the engine..

reaserach different oul viscositys to find whas best for the engine you have planned...

Even down to running high octane premium fuel to help just that smidgen...

Upgrade the diff gears to 3.9's or 4.11's.
Add a decent stall converter.
Underdrives.

yeah i would really like a manual as i prefer them to autos...but just the cost of doing a manual conversion in a BA just doesn't seem worth it, not unless i'm running massive power that wouuld mean i needa build up the auto...that's the only reason i'd change it.

also, forgive my ignorance, but i havn't seen the underdrive pulleys for the 4.0L? just the 5.4...

They are available.. one of this sites commercial sponsors offer them.
I, however, am skeptical about underdriving my water pump... so im sort of waiting on a guinea pig to test them and see how they go!!
I got my BA to 158.1 RWKW with just exhaust/extractors air box mod and flash tune.
I also dont think you will be able to get any aftermarket cams yet...

2.5" exhaust + pacemaker extractors + typhoon airbox + 3.9 diff gears and LSD + electronic shiftkit = high 14s - flat 15s.
All that in an auto XT.
That'll keep you happy for a bit, I wouldn't bother with cams and all that.
Stick to that simple cheapish stuff, maybe grab an Edit as well, possibly a stall if you really want to maximise what you've got.
But I wouldnt go any further with it, save the cash for an XR6T.

Get a Exhaust of a XR6 Turbo or XR8....only bout $150-$200 on E-bay, and you will get same gains if not better than a 2.5" system, at a cheaper price....
Most of the guys on the b series site are using this system and getting really good results.

Thats the dilema now with the XR6T's drastiaclly coming down in price 2nd hand. U could have an Xr6T 4 the same price as a worked XT. The difference is the XT will be pretty much maxed out making stock XR power whereas if u get bored of that power and u have the Turbo there is s**t more to be had. But I reckon there is a hell of alot of fun to be had trying to get the max out of an N/A motor and crushing cars that should be faster eg. WRX etc. The XT makes seriously impressive power for an N/A 6 with bolt ons, so N/A isn't exactly a dud option.
U could consider an electric water pump instead of underdrive pulleys.

yeah, no-one's game to crack open the cam on a BA-BF, none of the site sponsors or the other major cams places want to go near them! If you find someone, keep me posted, I wanna, but can't find!
