well i have a tickford el 6 and have put in a stage 3 crow cam, new lifters and heavy duty valve springs about 1500km ago. Car was running fine, yesterday i found a nice smooth dirt road and was giving it a bootfull untill i heard like a vibration sound. It was only there above 4000rpm also take longer for the rpm to die down. So i thought i better take it home. I took it kinda easy home which was around 5km away, but by the time i got home it had a rattle noise. Not a deep down engine rattle noise, it sounds like a loud exhaust rattle noise but in the engine bay. The wierd thing is it drives fine, idles fine, hasn't noticably lost power if any. But i drove it about 400 m today and at around 2000rpm in first the rattle goes then comes back at around 2200 rpm.

If anyone has any ideas it would be alot of help.

might have broken a timing chain guide or less likely a slipped chain.

just guessing though - really hard to tell without hearing it. Might be a good idea to pull the rocker cover off and have a look inside for anything obviously broken.

already pulled roacker cover off and everything looks fine to me. next weekend we are going to put it over a pit and try to figure out where its from. but that was my first thought was something to do with the timing chain but it doesn't become more freqent. One of my mates had a listen and reckons its the cat. he said his was worst than that. But i thought the idle would change.
