Hey guys. I had the fairmont fitted with a 2.5" cat-back red back system. It has a single straight through muffler (which was just legal according to the bloke at car line). I love the sound it makes at low revs.

Anyways, here's some pics...

love the sound, many people ask if mine is a V8 too. I have no resonator on mine either, just love that burble at idle, and sounds so so cool punching up to 5000 rpm.

wjen I picked up the car took ages to wipe the smile off my face :)

Yeah my uncle works at Carline an fitted a 2.5 with middle muffler an no resonator on my EF GLi with a BA XR8 tip for $310. I love the sound of it and everyone that's heard it thinks its one of the sweetest sounding cars they've heard. An it's more of a growl than a howl. Falcon's have such a better note than commonwhores. I love mine an the cops dont care bout it either.

noisuf - Yep thats the tip haha. Got it from eBay after loving the look on Hyena's car. Sorry to steal ur idea mate!

jim3964 - I think I might chop the reso a little later on when I get used to the sound...will it still be legally loud though? The burbling on idle was the sound that I really wanted but I'm still rapt that its loud (after being used to the stock sound...which is no sound haha). I don't know how my car lasted 300,000kms and 10 years without this exhaust lol.

Hmm...how much you think it would cost to get the rear reso taken off?

My EF has no rear reso an everytime the cops pull me over they have nothin to say about my exhaust being loud at all. It can still be quiet if you dont drive it hard. But if you put your foot down it sounds sweet. The note with no reso is worth it. Im sure if you took your car back to Carline they would only charge around $20 or less to take it out as they charge $10 to install tips.

Yeah mine burbles on idle an also when the revs drop back down in gear. Its not LOUD while idling but still noiser than with a resonator. My uncles EF has the same system as mine but hes has a rear resonator and mine sounds a lot nicer than his an has a cleaner idling sound

you are crazy if you have a rear resinator the cops have pulled me over not even said a word bout my exhaust (2 1/2 inch Lukey sports no rear resi, big fat GT tip) and i'm a p plater they try and nail ya for anything and i have to agree with the other boys its a nice sound mine sounds really nice between 2 and half and 3 and a half really humbs. But it also sounds good idleing has been mistaken for a XR8.

Ok ok the Rear reso coming off haha. I just told Paul to make my car sound like the EL on the 'Hear the Growl' section of the Lukey site and he did the rest. Anyone know what time Carline are open Sundays...presuming they are open at all.

Man i doubt Carline are open today.

I'm sitting here bored s**t at autopro. After reading this I'm gonna ring my suppliers tomorrow and organise me some pacey comp headers and a lukey 2.5" cos my plain sports cat back just developed some cracks before the rear muffler. It wasn't cutting it anyway.
