Talking about the speed limiter? If so then changing the ECU to an EF XR ECU will get rid of the limiter. It is not recommended though because the tailshaft and is not rated above 180kph like the XR ones.
If you talking about the rev limiter I'm not sure on how to get rid of that.

Yeah get an EF XR ECU and that will get rid of the limiter.
If you have an auto get an XR auto ECU or if you have a manual get an XR manual ECU. Dont mix and match.

Be wary with the tailshaft. The GLis are limited for a reason.

No that wont take the limiter off but it will ensure a bit more safety when you do.

The limiter is part of the ECU and that must be changed to enable higher speeds than 180kph. The XR ECUs are not limited (or I havent been able to find it yet  and I've been over 210kph).
EF and EL ECUs are not interchangeable. Must use an EF XR ECU for an EF GLi and a EL XR ECU for a EL Gli.

Hope that helps.

The XR ECU won't affect anything else, in the Ghia, all the 'extras' are handled by the BEM.

Correct.

You can change the ECU to the XR one without any troubles.
