Hi all after recieving a bit of 21st $$$ i am considering (finally) doing some decent mods to my XR6.

Now i have extractors taken care of, as i have just about paid for my new pacemaker competion headers which will be coated in a silver ceramic finish. The cost was going to be under $500 but there were some complications with the price of the ceramic coat and all up its costing me roughly $600-$700.

So yeah cant wait to get them :P

Now for exhaust system, atm i have a completely stock system - the resonator

I was thinking of just going a 2.5inch redback exhaust w/ a hi-flo cat. Possibly a magnaflow cat.

But as work is good and plentiful atm i can prolly afford something a bit better so what are peoples thoughts/suggestions on going a full custom exhaust, looking at something under the $500 mark.

So what do you guys think? is their much difference between the two types?

Thanks

no need to go for something custom mate.... just go the lukey or redback as they are both very well researched and designed systems.... and would possibly flow better than any custom one u get done...... with the money u save u can go a wade regrind cam

i agree get a bolt system.
but as you have a EF XR6 i don't recomend getting the wade 1004 cam at all.
i'd wait ans see how there new grind goes in an XR6 befor bying. a few of us have hed slower XR6s after fitting a 1004 from wade.

LOL thanks guys, will c what happens are there any other brands out thier that sound good on the ticky 6's and if they produce the goods as in good (rwkw) increase?

I got...sorry i should say i had a custom made exhaust by Pitstop fitted on my XF, sounded great but droned a bit.. Made noticeable power increase too, that set me back just under $300.

Im after the rwkw factor more than the sound thou. So would a 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust w/ hi flow cat be suitable then.

Thanks for the input guys :)

Thanks again for the birthday wishes lol :P Well when i went to the city a few weeks ago i went to car toys and they sell the Magnaflow cats and apparently they are a proven choice as they flow better than pretty much ne stock cat (lol)

Well either the end of this month or mid next i will be doing the pricing of it all so hopefully it all goes well. :P

Thanks again people

Well went out and got some prices, the only two exhaust places in Victor pretty much sold the same damn products!!! NOT MUCH HELP.

But ne way went to Pitstop and they quoted me $245 fitted for a full Lukey cat back system with a Turbo box (obviously a muffler) and no resonator.

Then i went to Carline and they quoted me $295 fitted for same system but a Superflow Turbo muffler and still no resonator

Both systems are not mandrel bent either!!!

So me being interested in the idea i said how much for a FULL mandrel bent exhaust with a decent hi-flow cat and a non ricer sounding muffler lol (was being a bit of a smartass at that point).

He told me roughly $650 all up and fitted

So what should i do guys? Should i take my business else where and get the exhaust done somewhere in the city?

Thanks help would be appreciated

I would but if the whole system is not fully mandrel bent then im not worring about it!

The idea of paying near $300 for a press bent exhaust is crap IMO. If it were 2.5' the WHOLE length then yes i would pay that much.

See what happens might give a few places in adelaide a call

On gas my XR6 already sounds like a v8 im dead serious!!!, obviously not roar wise but the tone of it is very cammy and lumpy, sounds really cool.

On petty thou it just sounds like its got a jap exhaust on it as its a very different sound than what most exhausts sound like.

I will see i really want a full 2.5 inch madrel bent exhaust with a decent sports muffler and a decent hi-flow cat for under $500 lol is that too much to ask for!!!
