I've recently taken the head off my XH as the gasket has finally stopped co-operating. While I had the head off, I was thinking about swapping it for a better setup to help with general performance and fuel economy. I'm not looking for anything drastic, just an easy improvement while I have the engine in pieces.

I've already got extractors, exhaust, AU injectors, the BBM manifold and a J3 chip that I plan to retune once I get everything back together. It's a manual with the 3.45 diff.

In reading up on the heads, it seems the AU2 head with the metal gasket would be a better alternative to using the standard E-series head I have now, but there are quite a few other options such as the XR6 head, getting a reco head with larger valves, etc etc. I was thinking of adding a new cam too but don't want the costs to get too high either.

Any suggestions for a head/cam combo would be greatly appreciated!

94AB head is a good start point if you want to do any porting and polishing. One of the better flowing stock heads to start with.
