The EB has decided to do valve stem seals. So i have decided to do them and whilst the head is off get it shaved and use a AU head gasket and is it AU head bolts as well?
which is my first question. how far can it be shaved before i have issues with valves hitting pistons?
also the timing chain has had a slight rattle for a while so i thought i may as well do it while the head is off too. anyone got pics of where all the timing marks have to line up. and do the Falcons just have the spring loaded timing chain tensioner. or is there a oil pressure fed one too?

U wouldn't wanna shave it to much. 30 thou maybe 50 thou. Personally Never done it myself . But the Au head gasket will raise compression then just get the head skimmed. Up to you.
Not sure what u mean with the timing marks but u would want the balancer lined up with the timing cover and the cam gear mark about 2-3mm above the right hand side of the head . Basically tdc.
Grab a eb workshop manual that will tell /show you where the marks are.

The timing chain tensioner uses both spring and oil to keep it tight.

well i wanna replace the chain, so the auxiliary shaft has marks too. afaik the crank gear and auxiliary gear should point at each other. and the cam gear should be 2-3mm of the head

Just make sure they are long enough. And that they hang out of the head a good inch or two.
Length is the only issue I can see.

But I'm sure they'll be fine.

Just shave it bald mate. I dunno if I'm lucky but when I took my head in to get it shaved they said it was previously shaved that much they could only get 1 more skim out of it. Done around 15,000ks since and runs perfectly with no weird noises. Has an awesome not from the engine also.
