Hi guys the headgasket is gone on the EB mon8. I was thinking that if i have to take the head of and replace the gasket then i may as well put an ED XR6 head on and XR cam.
The questions i have are..
1. Do i need an XR fuel reg or will the one i have be ok.
2. Will the standard ECU run the car smoothly as i plan on getting the ECU later down the track if it will be ok for the time being.
3. Will i notice a power gain running the standard ECU.
4. Is all this stuff worth doing? A wrecker is selling the XR head, cam and rockercover for $300. Am i getting a good price?

Sorry to ask questions that may have been answered but this question is vital on my decisions made. Cheers.

the only differences from standard 6 to tickford 6 from what i recall is head, cam ,fuel reg, ecu and for looks the rocker cover.
standard ecu will run it fine as the cam isnt that big.
price is ok as long as the head is ok and doesnt need work, other than a shave. i would buy all of the tickford gear to get the full xr spec.

you might as well do it. Once you get the ECU should be good for 13kw with some XR6 spark plugs and regulator. Will also provide a better foundation for other mods if you choose to do them. I've heard that they may run better on the standard fuel regulator because they run fairly rich. I've also read that using the tickford ECU over a standard ECU makes a noticable difference. Guess you will find these out:P
