Hey all, any advice on replacing the heater core in my el fairmont its turning out to be a prick of a job!!!

Got the dash and that out, have all the bolts out of the heater box, but I cant get the heater hoses off!!!

The spring clamps are pointing down and wont move!!! I dont wanna pull the inlet manifold out again.

That IS a prick of a job!!

I say sacrifice the hoses. Cut/grind/melt the things off and then replace with brand spankin new hose (3/4inch?) when putting all back together

Cut/grind the clamps off... shouldnt be more than a few bucks for replacement clamps from fastener store... i.e. coventry fasteners...

Get a mechanic to pull his hair out, or try some vice grips?

If you are going to replace the heater core anyway, why not cut the heater core pipes off with a hacksaw, inside of the clips.

I must admit, mine came off pretty easily when I did them a few months ago and I doubt they had ever been off in 13 years.

Maybe they are easier to get to on the windsors?

Good luck though!
