My oil pressure is much higher than it should be, nearly on the top orange square, car temp is fine though. Any ideas?

Do an oil pressure test to find it out properly or your just guessing.
Guessing either, sender unit faulty or the oil pressure relief valve stuck shut. My guess is the unit.

oil pressure test? How? The gauge in my car says its high, I wouldn't have a clue if the oil pressure was high otherwise

Also what will happen if I run the car at high pressure?

Depends how high it is. I've seen Ford Courier 2.6 petrols blow the seal out on the oil filter. What model falc we talkin about here?

running the car at high oil pressure will cause the gauge to point towards the red part.

Have you got an oil pressure testing kit?

What is it with some of you? Do you see the V8 Supercar guys using std fittment guages? No,
Just get it tested, using a capilliary oil pressure guage test set.

Dude, stop talking s**t.

The hard bit with getting a mech gauge on the 4L, is the position of the pressure sender.
Right under the intake manifold.
Impossible to get too from above with the BBM.
If your cars not low, you might be able to get underneath and reach up, otherwise, ramps, and get it from under that way.

I do this stuff for a living. How do you think I got on when an ED Taxi comes in and he wants all 3 fan belts changed now and the car is that hot you can't touch the mudguards???

Anyway, Jack up the car, take the oil filter off, then you can see the oil pressure sender unit, remove it, ( yes, this is difficult), fit up the testing kit, put the oil filter back on, start the engine, and check the test guage.

How hard is this. Either that or take it somewhere and pay to get it done.
