hi,
My coolant bottle cracked so needed to get a new one. the one i got from the wreckers is very dirty on the inside. i was wonderin if anyone knew a good way of cleaning it??

get 750ml of clean water... add lots of sand to hit.. (1 small cup) pour into the bottle.. and shake violently for 15 mins.. :lol:

bleach, that may work, ummm some rocks. but i dont no if bleach would kill the bottle and contaminate (didnt spell it right i think) the coolant so its f**k your engine.

best thing to use is 1 or 2 cup of rice and water and then shake like f**k. if its really bad try a ouple of times.

i must try this with mine.

When i had my old eb fairmont..it had a PERFECT overfill bottle then when i got the wreckers to fit the EL motor (i couldnt b stuffed) when i got it home i then realised my bottle was "magically" Dirty and s**t looking. they didnt know what i was talking abt... Pricks!@

I bought a brand new one, it started going browny after a month, then I crashe my car and cracked it and broke the mounting points. Good way to blow $115.

I think painting them is the way to go, especialy since they have a low coolant sensor.

thats strange how urs started goin brown???? the whole time i had mine. Stayed the same nice clear colour. I think they look a bit weird painted but if i painted mine i think id do it black.

Personally I wouldn't paint as you can't quickly glance at the level.

I've used rice once, and gravel once - both did a good job, but you need to be gentle with the gravel!

yeah i was told by a mechanic that bleach is the way but it looks like you should kill 2 birds with one stone, Bleach your rice while cleaning your overflow bottle with them both.

Yeah id just get a new one, cleaning the old one still wont look as good.
