Just put a 1214AU cam in my bro's EA. shimed it up and all. now it is slower! how is this possible? put new plugs in it at the same time

3.9L. standard head. but this same cam was in my EB (3.9L, standard) and made it so much quicker!

the cam having the au part number on the end means its for an au motor
im pretty sure u need the au rocker gear to make it work properly

it does not mean that. the cam spec sheet says suits EA-EL SOHC

The EA is probably running way to lean, arnt they center point and the EB 3.9 multi point fuel injected?

yes. it didn't move. we cable tied the gear to the chain. i've changed a cam before. like i said when it was dropped into my car for a few weeks it flew. more mid to high range power.

what do you mean by tune though. just adjust the timing and air fuel on the CFI carby? i tried setting the timing, so i grounded the white/red trace wire near the booster and it wouldn't go into self test mode

The only way my eb would go into that timing setup is when I got speaker wire. Like 12gauge and stuffed it in the plug and had a alligator clip on the other end attached to the negative terminal.
Didn't work on chassie parts?
