Hey guys after alot of stuffing around with my mechanics they told me that they would give me some free labor on fixing my fuel level indicator issue ! So i need to change the fuel sending unit so i can get a correct reading and the mechanics said the part was about $40-$50 and they would fit it for free !

Is this unit normally worth this much? Or how much cheaper can i get it?

Yea they main problem is fixed except my car needs a re tune on gas !

How big are the fuel sending units and what do they look like? are they something i can pocket?

Also with the fuel relief procedure all i can do it take the fuel cap off i cant pull the fuse and run at car at UPI till it dies ! so whats the best way about getting it out?

theyll charge u about $10 on a good day .

fuel relief??? wtf?

lift carpet in boot and its under the round cover plate lhr looking in. 6 or so screws, then under neath is the sender/pump. disconnect the wires, undo the large clamp around the outside and unscrew the retainer off the top. carefully lift the pump out, dont bend the wire rod with the float on it.

If your car is a sedan there is a cover in the boot which once removed uncovers the fuel tank where the sender unit/fuel pump goes in. Easy to do, but use new o ring. Station wagons fit on the paasengers side, underneath the car on the side of the tank. S/h sender unit should be cheap from wreckers, take fuel pump off it tho and use yours

if u dont get a new o ring (car parts plus , osullivans beach rd should have one) dry the old one with a rag as soon as u get it out, they stretch a little when wet and wont refit properly

You will find more than half the time when you undo the clamp and then try to unscrew the Black retainer top they dont unscrew take a hammer and a screw driver and belt the retainer off only hitting the retainer then it will come out and just look for a cyclinder shape object with a plug on it unplug it and then pop it out

yeah basically. theres a metal tab that holds the pump to the sender that u need to bend back to take the pump out too. u really need to see it to understand fully i think
