Hey all, im just after some opinions on how much power you think i will make out of the new motor for my ef, it is not yet asembled and i will find out when its done anyway but i was thinking some of you guys with experience regarding the sohc sixes could give me a rough estimate.
The bottom end is standard other then being shot peened, the comp ratio is 11 to 1 and the cylinder head has been ported ( i have provided the flow chard show before and after porting ).
A camshaft is yet to be picked wich im sure will make it hard to estimate a power output but i have been told a cam will be chosen to match the cylinder head flow chart. i also have ceramic coated pacemaker 4499's that have been port matched to the head. Even a rough estimate of what it would be capable of with the right cam would be great, oh and it will be running a fully tuneabe vipec ecu not a chip. Cheers

The car is also a 5 speed manual xr6, so 3.45 diff gears if quoting rwkw figures, and the cylinder bores are 20thou over cheers

I'd say Troyman is pretty close yeah.

you know EF_96_XR, these long stroke torquey motors love forced induction its the cheapest way to turn them into a giant killer. ;)

+1 with Troyman...if you don't get that figure, that would really suck. I'd be majorly disappointed if I did all that work to get less than 150rwkw.

Take a look at some of the E-series cars Bullet Performance Racing has done:
http://www.bpracing.com.au/Ford-ESeries.html

Your head work looks like it's made a big improvement in flow, so you can assume that it's not too far off BPR's WPN (weapon) head. With 11.0:1 compression, you will need a reasonably hot cam to match (and avoid detonation at low rpm). Based on some of the similar manual cars on BPR's website, I would guesstimate a minimum of 160-170rwkw after dyno-tuning. You could get as high as 180-185rwkw.

Also take a look at TI Performance's owners gallery:
http://www.tiperformance.com.au/owners_gallery.php
Check out Gerard's EL - his car sounds not unlike what you're doing - and he made 186rwkw! There are a few mildly cammed E-series with automatics and no head porting still getting around 150rwkw. Obviously, kw will vary from dyno to dyno, too.

Hope this helps.

My car's number 3 on that BPR list and it was difficult to get to 164rwkw with a Wade 1673. IMO you'll need a 1521a to get over 170+rwkw, a CMS Stage 3 (or similar).

EF_XR_96, what's your exhaust setup after the extractors? With the improved flow in the head, you might consider going to a 3" from the cat back.

im actually considering making an n/a setup with dual throttlebodys like ive seen on here, it was a ed log manifold turned upside down, the end was blocked off where the throttlebody went and it had 2 throttlebodys put on top similar to the e series bbm but with 2 t/b, mild cam ported head and some high comp pistons, but im not sure how it would go on a registered daily drive fual wise or driveability in traffic :?:

I would be heading back to porting bench. you've got 213cfm @ 28"h2o.
A stock AU head shows 195cfm @28"
It's got some reasonable gain at mid lift but the port stalls at .400" valve lift.

I'll bet my left nut there isn't enough area around the short turn where the valve guide protrudes.

.400" lift is roughly where the port becomes the limiting factor, Below that it's the seat/valve that limits flow. Basically what you've paid for is a reworked seat and a back cut on the valves.
