G'day everyone,
My EF 6 with an AU motor developed a bad miss yesterday while driving around the block. It felt exactily the same as when a lead fell off a plug. It idles ok but misses badly when revving. Me and my mate (hes an apprentice mechanic) have changed the plugs, leads, coilpack to no avail. The motor is getting spark (have cranked it and seen the spark from all plugs) but its still running like crap. Have also taken the rocker cover off and looked for valvetrain damage (which was a long shot as i dont thrash my car) and still nothing. also have cranlked the car with no plugs and there is no water in the cylinders.

Does anyone have any further ideas on what could be causing this? I am angry because i have had the engine in for less than 2 months and done 1000 kms since fitted. The motor has only done 105 000kms.

cheers in advance

what model AU motor is it? if its a later one (AU 2 or 3) just hope its not the auxillary shaft driving the dizzy. if thats gone, you might as well go and get another motor.

only AU series one motors ran dizzys (i think ). try replacing MAP sensor and cleaning ISC and throttle body.

if its running crap only when your driving... could it not just be your timing thats out...?

edit: actually if it feels as if it misses, then.. no this wouldn't be the case..

ok good, might have check mine aswell as mine has a bit of a flat spot at 2000rpm and seems a bit slower up the rev range than usual
