Hey guys,

Is it possible to move the distributor to a different location. Just had a thought to make it easier to get to and also put it somewhere where it would look more technical to the uneducated automotive people of this world = my mates. how does the dizzy get the power to rotate. Is it a direct connection to something turning off the engine or is it just supplied electrical power and rotates on its own. I am very uneducated in the components other than the engine however seem to know how to pull s**t apart and put it back together and the car will still work.

Cheers,

Michael

i have always been an audio guy but engine stuff has been in teh back of my mind and has come to the front, lol, as i have to change the intake manifold gasket.

Cheers,

Michael

YOU CAN ONLY MOVE THE DISSY TO GET THE RIGHT TIMING IT RUNS OF THE TIMING CHAIN IT ASLO DRIVES THE OIL PUMP AS THE THE ENGINE TURNS . IT HAS THE TIMING CHAIN IT GOES ON THE CHRANK TO THE CAM SHARFT TI THAS TO ALL BE IN LINE TOP DEAD CENTRE ON THE OIL PUMP IT HAS GOT A HEX SHARFT ON IT. THAT DRIVES THE PUMP

Newspaper too... gaskets are very simple things, particularly inlet manifold gaskets. Gotta think outside the square when the bits you need arent at hand! Obviously, the appropriate part from a good supplier is the preferred choice.

I've used carboard for a gasket before ... on a small engine - it ran for about 10 minutes until the cardboard burnt through... :P

You can convert to dis ignition like EF or AU onwards...But you'll need different ecu and six coil packs...The original dissy can stay b to be used as crank angle senser...Or inplace of...
