I bought an EL XR6(no mods) a few months ago, only done 100 000kms but the head gasket was blown.
I got it dyno'd and all I got was 98rwkw.

Since then I've put on pacemakers and replaced all the exhaust(except the cat) with another 2.5 inch system. I also got the head gasket fixed.
Then got it dyno'd again yesterday and its only increased 2.5 kw.

Is it just me or is that pretty lousy figures for an XR6?

to put it plainly, thats s**t! sorry to hear that man - any ideas what it runs down the 1/4? a lot of people don't necessarily agree with dyno readings - 1/4 mile runs often give you a better idea. are those figures from the same dyno machine?

Dude, that is pretty weak... those are the power figures you would expect from a base i6 not an XR6, seeing that you only got 2.5rwkw gain from your mods i would think that the dyno was inacurate and i would dyno it else where.
Maybe you could compare it to a mate's XR6??

Hate to say it as well, but that does sound pretty lousy.

My car with the same mods got 117 to 122 rwkw on its last run.

I'd maybe pull some codes from the ECU. Maybe dud oxy sensor, map, temp sensors, fuel reg...

thats gotta suck man

i'd definetly be pulling some codes from the ecu if i were you, because if its the same dyno etc. something is definetly robbing you of something around 20rwkw, which is something you don't really wanna miss out on.

let us know how you get on.

my guess is the dyno.

or try a different dyno place

I know this mabe a stupid question but does it feel like its got that much power? Does your car feel fairly torquey? is the gearbox etc okay sure something else isnt wrong with the car?

Also could be the dyno.

You should be getting ne where between 110-125 with a ef/el XR6...

maybe it's just a dodgy brand......, oh wait no that can't be right..

was the dyno run a peak figure?

i'd have a look under your dissy cap, have a look at the roter and cap, plugs and leads, check your air filter, fuel filter, but if everything looks ok, pull some stuff up from the ECU.

reminds me of my run on the dyno when i 1st got my car(5 litre EB), had extractors, exhuast, BMC Air filter, Tickford snorkel, and the car put out 110 RWKW on a dyno that other peoples was putting out about 20 KW more then mine with same mods, we figured out it was my cats and fuel filter, we changed to twin hi-flo cats and new fuel filter it jumped to 135RWKW (same dyno), my car sounded like a space shuttle on the dyno with the blocked cats!, lol.
Not saying thats your problem..., it's just it reminded me of it thats all, coz with only 100 thou km's on the clock your cats SHOULD be fine.

my last run on the dyno was a nice listen i tell you, lol, but 135RWKW wasn't my last run, it's doing 155RWKW now in a pretty much stock engine, but my powers just getting better and better, coz my injectors are stuffed, has been since i got it, they are slowly getting better tho and im feeling more power every week, and my fuel consumption is now going down alot too which is very good, but pity im selling...., getting something a little better....Secret tho :P

It's the same place that I've dyno'd it both times. In between mods I've had a tune up and the 100 000 service.
To tell the truth, I've always been a little dispointed at the power its had. It goes fast but not as fast as I'd expected. But in saying that I've never driven any other XR6s so maybe I'm expecting too much.
