Hey everyone. I may actually be able to get another ford again! Yey...anyway...

I am thinking of buying a 93 Fairmont EB II 4.0L with 293ks on the clock. The car yard is selling it for $2000 unregistered. Got a roadworthy inspection today and it needs to have fixed:
Wheel bearings
Alternator belt
New Rotors and Pads on all 4 wheels
Replace extension housing seal
Tailpipe is rusted
Tappet gasket (is this the same as rocker cover gasket?)

Other than this the car does run really well, smooth changes, electrics work etc. So yeh I am able to fix the above problems things myself (cept for tailpipe). And I would have to register it once it passes the roadworthy. The big question is... do you guys think its a decent deal / worth it?

Any opinions would be great. Cheers :)

too much work involved.. you should be able to find one that needs ½ as much work for that money.. brakes are a givin, but all the other stuff get em to do it.. but yeah as Alfy said get em to register it 3 months, then they need to deal with the RWC and you can just keep paying and do it in your time and budget allowance.

Also, i'm pretty sure if you accept it unregged, you won't be entitled to the statutory 3 month warranty on all dealer used car sales.

Ask him to get it regged for you and you'll pay the expenses, and if he gets weird after that, he's probably got something to hide ;-)
