I am thinking bout installing a DEV IV kit on my ED XR6 but am a bit weary of getting $3500 worth of gear trucked over. Has anyone had dealinngs with JMM and how did you find them to liase with. Also does anyone have a DEV kit on they're car and what do you think of it?

I am aiming for around 170rwkw and I am thinking of putting a 100hp nitro kit so hoping for mid 13 down the strip.

i wouldnt waste $3500 worth on JMM gear.. OED666 off of Fordforums.com.au has ran a 13.8 with just an AU XR6 engine with a Surecam regrind and a chiptorque chip..

way cheaper! and JMM gear isnt the best IMO

Ive dealt with them, and had problems with both the delivery of the products, and the products them self.

MY opion, at the end of the day, if your gona pay top dollar, the service and products should be of a top standard, which was not by any stretch, close to my expectations.

If i could do it all again, id go a RPD stage 3 cam, Unichip and change the diff ratio.

Jim Mocks stuff works. I have their dev 4 cam and extractors. I think that a dev 5 cam would definatelty be better. Also get a tune. Sure oed has done well but along side him at the top is JMM equipped cars.

Having had indirect experince with a devoted JMM fan, who has since turned away, due to poor advise from JMM and a purchase that did not live up to expectation. yeah i know this paints a bad pic for JMM, but there are better products out there for alot less..

for example..

Big bastard RPD R-spec 4, Valve springs and cam gear = bout $700.00 supplied.. fitting extra

and a Megasquirt II from justfordima for about $1000.. and thats a plug and play full replacement ECU thats $1700. The megasquirt is well and truly able to has Nos tables added as well so the engine knows what to expect..

Diff gears if you want.. but what ratio? 3.9's or 4.11's? priced accordingly.

I was thinking of adding NOS so that's maybe another direction to pursue

i'm not a JMM fan.. but.. they must have put a fair bit of R&D into their kits.. hence the price...

but i do agree.. just look around.. and a lot of this RPD stuff seems to be a real goer.. i'm considering getting one of their cams...

The problem i'm having is deciding which parts to get. The JMM kit was good because its just a bolt on kit. Any ideas on which parts to get would b great.

Over the years i've heard more complaints than praise for JMM.

His customer service has probably been the biggest complaint, and his prices are ridiculously high.

Go with the RPD gear, all you ever hear is praise for those guys.

Basically I'm after 230rwhp any advice on what setup to run to achieve this figure would b great. I was thinking of adding NOS to get upto ~300rwhp when the need arises, my budget is ~$3500-4000. I'm not overly mechanically confident so I"d need someone to screw it all together aswell. :? :?

a basic Nitrous set up is around 1k plus install isn't it? so thats a fair chunk of your budget.. getting someone to take off the head and replace it you'd be looking at 1k plus parts? another huge chunk

i don't know much to be honest.. those figures are just assumptions from what i've seen around the place...

spend your money on a tough bottem end, block prep, balence crank attached parts. head, shave/port. then a big cam (rpd rock:) ). then spend the rest on a stallie/manual.

should make a quick strong motor.
