what you described sounds exactly the same as what happened to my cousin. It was a faulty brand new thermostat for him. radiator shop replaced the second one after changinging radiators and still not fixing the problem.not sure what brands were used.

i would try a genuine one for sure.

My Ea would go near off the scale on it's cycle from cold and then settle down to normal.
I lived with it for years and had 430,000km on the engine.

Solve your problem once and for all

Use the right coolant

Change your Waterpump but at the back of the waterpump there is an o-ring they leak all the time so change that

run a desent Thermostat i went the one ford recomended the 91c that kept jumping around so i went to supercheap and got an 80c one she was as good as gold on the hot day in summer i had the air con while giving the car a bit she stayed on the line under the L by the way this is a EL

Run Nulon Coolant....Get an 81C thermostat. WITH a hole in it.... if it doesnt have a small hole in it...DRILL one...and if it comes with a hole it will have a restrictor in the hole... f**k that off... Mine was doing the same thing years ago till i did that.

don't use aftermarket stuff in the car Nulon you want to use Motorcraft/Ford Anti Freeze Anti Boil
