Hi All just starting to do the conversion from Ef motor to AU in place of ef. I have had a bad oil leak for some time now and a mechanic told me it was my rear main seal well, Thats one of the reasons i thought i would do the conversion as i am sick of replacing EF motors that crack heads so easierly what a s**t design anyway while puling the old ef motor out i noticed the oil train line and it was actually leaking from the rear of the Tappet cover seal what a dummy i ve been i should have thought of that but was really disappointed in the motor as it had only been in a couple of weeks when it started to lose oil So i have one goof EF motor but i still will replace it with the AU as i picked up the motor and gearbox out of a wreack on ebay at $250 so will put both in as they are low mileage at 120000 but s**t if i had of checked the tappet cover seal i probably wouldnt be doing this.

Oh well i will keep everyone posted with pictures as i also cut into the K frame and i am sure like me other people will have question like me so hopefully we will all learn something along the way, Wont be cutting till Saturday now though have to take a Siberian Husky pup to the airport tomorrow. :D

Cheers all
Alan

Hi Guys well struck a problem already started to swap the EF Harmonic sensor and well to me it looks exactly the same as the AU one.

But when i started to do the airconditioner comp i notice the Au elect dissy has no wires coming out of it and the one on the Ef does so can anyone help with that one i will include photos as i do it to help

Can anyone tell me how to add photos to this post first so i can post the old and new as we go

Cheers Alan

You need the EF one, the thing in the AU engine is just to drive the oil pump :)

The Elect Dizzy on the Ef has a plug and the AU doesent Dizzy doesent does this mean i have tyo change them and how do i go about that and get the correct position.

are u sure u have an EF and not EL

EF had coilpack EL had dizzy

if you are refering to the cam angle sensor then the AU has a different arrangement with it being on the front of the block and not in the "dizzy" hole....

cant see the problem with fitting the EF crank angle sensor into the AU block, it should fit

the one on the right is the cam angle sensor..
the cam angle sensor on the ef is the sensor that goes in the dizzy hole..
to make things easy just leave the one on the au disconected and put the ef one in the au dizzy hole...

Thanks Troyman i was hoping youd pop in some where along the way.

The one on the left pictured below is it the same as the ef the reason i ask is i took the one of the ef and put it on the au but they look the same but the Au one looks in much better condition so can i leave the AU one on the Au motor

Will check and see if the plugs are the same.

Now where the dizzy hole is is that what you are calling the cam angle sensor and when i put the Ef one into the Au mtr is their a special way it goes in or can i just pull one out and pop the ef one in its place thanks
