iv got a el xr6 with the standard air intake altho it has a large hole facing the front for a bit more air

iv got head work, cam, full exhuast, chip

is it honestly worth making the air intake something like the custom ones u see around on fordmods that look nice

i know a pod filter is a bunch of wank but because of the stuff i have had done is it worth increasing the size of the intake?

cheers

Pod filters arnt a bunch of wank. If you set it up right you should get an increase in powarrr. And a nice throttle note.

pod filters are only a wank if you leave them un boxed in the engine bay to suck in all that hot air..

but the std panel filter can still supply enough air for a mild engine without it being a restriction..
i would look at removing any restrictions from the pipework or airbox..
getting cool air is better than hot pod air...

Autospeed did a great article on improving the flow of the EF intake setup, which is pretty much identical to yours - http://www.autospeed.com.au/cms/A_107828/article.html

They reduced the overall flow restriction by 44% - keeping the stock paper air filter.
