Do you only need thicker shims with regrinds? I have a stage 1-2 crow cam which is not a regrind, but would I gain advantage by running 2.4mm shims?

definatly not. infact you would probably break something.

shims are only required to fill the gap for what was ground off the origional cam.

another problem that can cause lifter noise, if the rockers/lifters have been out, is that the rocker arms are not alinged right ... try taking the rocker cover off, and see from the ticking lifter if you can move the arm from side to side.

hi, are you sure the noise is coming out of the motor, nearly every ford forum has a section about noisy ba/bf engines, is it worse when you first start it but it almost goes away when warm, when its cold take off, hold gear and let crackle down from about 3000, is the noise considerably worse? ive chased some serious money at correct a ticking noise, yesterday had the injectors inspected and ultrasoniclly cleared, no help. would love to know if your lifters helped
