extreme do a light weight flywheel,it weighs 7.5 kg.bit of a difference.already have heavy duty clutch but i will be looking at getting a new ine when i get light flywheel.people have told me that you can light standard ones but i would have thought that would increase the stress on a standard wheel as well as reduce its strenght and it would be more prone to flexing/cracking/exploding.thoughts??
im guessing here, are the stock flywheels cast iron or steel? cast iron over 6500 rpm will strip threads, crack. if you want to buy a new one,get a steel normal weight and make some torque with the revs, even if the cam revs to 8500 rpm. we had a 3ltr holden motor pulling 310fwhp at 8500 rpm, 30 years ago, 12.7 1/4 mile -used to race 351s       guess who won

engine is limited to 5600-5700,am looking at chip or programmable management to rid this and increase to 6000-6300,chromo one should handle higher revs??

only chasers have no rev limiter, read the 6 cly forums on this, and the transmission forum----tail shaft failure------then do your home work as to what you want the car to do,its a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$ to have some fun. and do it right, the 1st time.

So im guessing if OED-666's EB runs a 13.8 1/4 mile then his got other stuff going on there and probably had other stuff done at the same time of lightening the flywheel. My EL was stock and i got it done for free while mate was getting his done. Made no difference over 1/4, only contributing factor would be takeoff which we all know are inconsistant... Anyways for all you out there wanting to spend $400 before buying cam, extractors, manual gearbox for $100 extra, or exhaust, then go ahead ad freely spend money on lightening your flywheel...

OED-666's ED ran a 14.2 with an AU motor, Surecam and a T5Z, fitted the lightened flywheel and a new clutch and ran the 13.88, and 200km/h is the very top of 4th in an XR6 with a 3.45LSD (5300rpm)

its not exactly on topic but
that doesnt seem right??
the speed in 4th cant be right for a car with 3.45..@5300 rpm .
im running a au motor with a t5 and 3.08 ratio and i can only get 180 out of 4th @5500 rpm. with the 2.92 it did 200 in 4th @5500...
unless his speedo is out. a car with 3.45 would have a slower speed at 5500 than a car with 3.08..
anyway.............

ive had a lightened flywheel before and i didnt notice any difference.
same with the alloy tail shaft...
i also think you can spend that $450 on other mods and get more performance than lightening the flywheel...

its your car!!

Dude just buy the flywheel and see how it goes if it does not work sell it on ebay. On the shock see if you can get them for like half price would be a good deal then.

to me thats a 4th gear into 5th gear change. not a 3rd into 4th gear.
if you look close it changes from 4th into 5th at 170 and it does 210 @ 5500 rpm it doesnt say its in 4th though?

im not looking for a argument or anything but here is the same guys 0 to 150 run
in this run he only gets 150 out of 3rd..

Had a bit more left in third. Plus that only leaves 50 kph for 4th gear. It should do that easily. Really.
