pod- filters do get a gain, because of their bigger suirface area, BUUUT, the way you have it set up has some short falls, how is cold air getting to it?. you could try feeding it with a au xr8 kit with a pipe leading from it to your pod, i have a similer system.

i cannot badmouth pods "i have one" but mine is in the box with a couple of cold air feeds. so it actualy works.

check my gallery for a hint. also gets lots of attention when the bonnets up.

just good theory, bad execution.

Did you get a sticker with the RACER set up, lol, if you put that on your door, thats another 3-5% gain, ask the enginneer who works there, he isnt biased.

Is it possible that you were running rich before the pod when in? now with all that hot air, it might of help to correct the air/fuel ratio. leaning it out a bit.

Nah. The ECU uses MAP and IAT to determine air density. Less density, less fuel gets injected.

If anything, it will be running richer with less dense air if the ECU has a to take a bit of time to catch up, but it shouldn't. It's F1 bred!

Dude, the gains you are feeling are probably in your head.
I have driven my car with no intake piping on it (straight from the throttle body), and there is minmal difference between that and having the full intake setup on there including filter.

all i have to say is.....BAAAAHAHAHAHA! nice hot air intake there. I had the same thing and it was a fuggin mistake, so got the Mandrel bent intake, SS inductions big mouth (for $75) and KN panel filter and that there is a TRUE gain.

dude i have one of faster stock camed cars on this site.
My 1/4 mile speeds prove my power figures.

and you won't see a pod filter under my bonnet.

i use the flow bench proven and dyno proven EF air box matched to EL pipe work.

that pod siting like that will not give you any power at all.

one of my customers who races a VS commodore in the local hillclimbes and rally, has test a number of setups on his dyno and found the factory air box with a cold air feed made the most power.
his car is making 240rwhp and an air box half the size of a falcon made more power than a pod filter.

think about that for a while.

but at least there was one good out come from it al....

Cheers Luke.............

IIRC... ANY system is only as good as its weakest point... whats the point of an 88mm pipe into a 80mm pipe? it will only bottleneck at the 80mm section so really 8mm of rice-penis

as most people have said, any gain you feel is probably in your head! the mind is powerful! hell even when bowsaw stares in the mirror for long enough he thinks hes sexy
