Hey i was speaking to someone over in Perth and he said that if its made of mild steel then the moister in the air will condinsate on it and rust, and the rust gets drawn into the motor! Is this right? Is sounds true. Can you do any in Stainless steel?

THey won't be painted inside - good point about the rust. ANyone have any ideas on this. If they can be made in stainless we wouldn't have to worry about painting them.

Cars up to the late eighties had steel casings to hold the air filters in. If its painted or powdercoated why would it be a concern.

Yeah but onthose older intake pipes they are painted inside i am pretty sur you wont find a intake that is just plane mild steel on the inside. Stainless steel is the way to go. Can it be done in stainless? anyone else have and comments on this point?

This company makes them in stainless but at a much higher cost.

www.darrendifilippo.com.au

I will stick with the XR8 dismantler as he has put a bit of effort into getting them made for members on this forum.

Ok i have been busy trying to negotiate a better price.

this is what ive come up with and i need some responses so i can get them happening.

i will need to pay for these up front! thats about 5 grand so please if you want one let me know and stick by your word to buy one. i am not making a big profit on these just enough to cover costs and a little drink.

the design we have gone for is like the one on the previous post.
if you have a EL or AU it will fit straight on and use the orig. bend.
if you have a EF you will need a bend with the kit (allow $10 )
we will be making them with a profile cut plate that bolts to your airbox
and the pipe goes into the box and bends downwards to allow the fitting of a pod if required.if not it can be cut short.
we will be getting 30 made to begin with. and colour will need to be confirmed NOW
colours available will be RED,BLACK and SILVER

cost will be $185 inc GST
freight will be worked out as we will try and bulk up some postage
to keep the price down.

i have done my best to keep the price down even to the extent of paying for them upfront to get another $5 each of the price.

please send me a email with your requirements (not a PM)

Darren

ok

here is how its going.

i have ordered 30 of these TODAY he will start making them friday.
after i fork out some $$$$$$ for the materials.

will will make them for the first 30 on the list. if you are one of the first 30 on the list please let us know if you DONT want to go ahead so someone else can take your place.

price is $185 and includes powder coating in silver / red or black only

they are NOT painted on the inside. you can spray some paint in yourself if you are concerned.my intercooler piping is mild steel and hasnt been a problem as is most intercooler piping.
