Interesting read. Nice to see someone is getting into doing a "drop in" ecu & loom for the twin cam engine. That sort of retro-tech is what we need in the modified car scene here in AUS. Good stuff guys!

Cheers

Okay this sounds awesome! Now I've had a bit of work done on my ea fairmont, now I've got a microtech ecu in it now that's gonna have to go if I want this setup am I right...
Also I'm worried about not being able to close my bonnet, surely you guys have got that problem sorted if your've got "drive in, drive out" deals going.
But what if I wanted to keep the microtech.. Is there a way you guys could put a ba motor in my ea?? Also keeping t5 manual... Please

The factory BA ECU is a much better choice than the microtech.

The microtech wont control the cams properly which kind of defeats the purpose of putting a BA motor in.

Bummer because it cost me a fair wack of money :(
main reason I don't wanna get rid of it.
But what do u mean it won't control the cams??

BA motors have variable cam timing on both cams.

Microtech's cant control it. Very few after ECU's can do it like the BA computer can.

2 cams and variable cam timing is why the BA motor is so much better than a SOHC motor.

If people want to keep the costs down and amount of work to fit this, If anyone wants to stay Auto EA-AU autos run fine off the EA TCM and thats how I wired my auto up behind the BF motor. Saves alot of money on the gearbox and screwing around with rewiring the older auto.

Well fair enough say since I don't wanna be throwing my money away anymore than I have... Is 300 rwkw possible for a street car?? That was going to be my goal and i think I'll just stick to my eb 4.0ltr and rebuild that. U know forged pistons (de-comp) and like 15psi maybe lol

You won't get 300rwkw from a 4.0l without boost of some sort.

A couple of people have got up to 200rwkw and they have had deep wallets.
