Your best bet is turbo charging your sohc motor(chase second hand kits, facebook groups often have people selling off kits very cheap)
Or fitting a turbo barra.

Update, car has following mods

Extractors with 3 inch custom collector, 3 inch cat and 3 inch cat back exhaust

Pod filter inside stock airbox with tickford snorkel and opening in bottom of airbox.

3 inch mandrel bend piping to airbox

3.45 diff gears

Auto is standard

Looking at a mild cam upgrade..

At this point with same weight saving, surely I'd be near a flat 14 and ready to give my mates untuned xr6 turbo the fright of its life.

not even close mate...then amount of work involved in getting some of these cars to that level is way beyond what you have done

no way. .. with what you have now you might get a 15.5 1/4 mile if your lucky..with adding a cam you might get high 14- low 15.

Your best mod at the moment would be a manual conversion and putting something like a 1521a cam in with valves springs and a J3 tune.

with these mods on a el xr6 you might get a 15.7 on a 1/4 mile, being a futura i would think you will be close to a 16sec.
My el xr6 with a cat back exhust system did a 16 flat Auto and now with jmm extractors, 100 cpi cat, 2.5 inch system, el gt snorkle and a auto quick shift kit i got a 15.7sec. that with two people, full load a petrol and a boot full of subs. so i would like to think it is capable of a 15.5 or 15.6

if i was you explore weight reduction, light seats, boot carpet, extra trye and all the shift from the car to get you down close to a 15.5 with your mods. But to get low 14's it is impossible unless you spend big money and is not worth it as you will always be behind a newer turbo car.

you will go straight into the mid 14's with manual, cam and tune. Its not that hard it just harder getting into the 13's

Absolute overkill on a stock NA Motor. You loose low end torque, you would be better off with a 2.5" exhaust.

Pod filter inside stock airbox with tickford snorkel and opening in bottom of airbox.
Pod filter = Zero.

3 inch mandrel bend piping to airbox
Improvement

3.45 diff gears
Good

What cam, "Mild Cam" means SFA.

No headwork, No Cam, Bog stock BTR, lucky to see mid 15's and he will eat you alive.

Even if you do get close to him after spending thousands of dollars, he will just get a flash tune and eat you up.

This thread made me lawl.

1) 4.11's or a manual conversion.
2) Lokka.
3) Headers and exhaust. You want a quarter mile hero, so don't bother with 2.5". 4480's and 3" system.
4) AU head gasket, big cam, springs and J3. I would say shave head, but need to be careful about what cam you use.

Will be aids to daily drive, probably drone and drink fuel like a b**ch. Depending on what you pick up second hand and how much work you can do yourself you may get the parts for $3k. Probably still will only just keep up with a stock BA xr6t, if you're lucky (I'm not sure how slow they are?).

they do anywhere from 13.9-14.5 at around 95-100mph. Going to need short gears big cam and a good tune.

Are NA E series really this slow??

My old EBII XR6, - (manual, pacies, 2.5" redback - 3.45 diff) took a vr 308 and R33 Stagea. I swear a cam would've pushed it to high 14's??

Was this incorrect?

auto ones are slow unless you have 3.9/4.11 with higher stall. Stock e-series manuals with a cam will get into 14's easy.

Typically a nugget. 165 kw stock (same as the E series 5.slow)

EB is several hundred Kilos lighter than a stagea...especially the 4WD ones

I stand by my previous statement... OP - Buy a BA conversion. You will be spending enough $$$.

If your hellbent doing an n/a car get an ea and just completely build on that. They are lighter than the ef el.
Drop an au engine in, el ecu/thermo fans, throw the pod in the bin and run a stock filter and mod the filter box,
Run decent diff gears and build an electronic shift kit and stally or go manual and 3.7 diff gears.
Big cam and possibly headwork if you wanna spend money getting it ported. 3 inch exhaust is good if your running diff gears because you wont spend too long down low anyway.

Also... I smashed a VN SS (with exhaust and not sure what else if anything)
Although I couldn't take my mates SV5000

So except for stags and vr's being slow, would a manual eb xr6 with headers, exhaust, intake and cam get into 14's? I was always under the impression that it would and if a tune was added make it low 14's

What do you reckon Ballast?
