hey all, i took my falcon out for a spin today to the local IGA, ran fine till i went to go home then the damn thing wouldnt start... it turned over, tried to run a few times but wouldnt run.. i rang my mate (previous owner) and he said leave it for 10 minutes and try it again.. he stated that it flooded itself somehow and you could definatley small the extra fuel.

when i finially got it running some 15 minutes later it ran like s**t, coughing and spluttering till i got the revs over 3000rpm then it slowly smoothed out. i got it home and have had no problems since...

there are a few things it could be, computer (most likely) injectors.. as they are flooding the motor so they may not be closing... spark plugs stuffed and not allowing sufficient spark to run the car, or the fuel pump or regulator is f**k and not stopping the fuel suply..

anyone know whats going on?

its a 3.9 EA with multipoint injection

nice banana bay! :D

seriosuly it sounds to me like your coil is on its way out. Would it start right now? or would it kick and splutter again?

i just got back from the shops, starts perfectly at home but when i take it somewhere and it heats up a bit it wouldnt starts again.. coughed and spluttered quite a bit (20 minutes it took to start) and then whan it did start it spluttered something shocking for about 15 seconds then went smooth... it floods itself which is why i thorght spark plugs... but the coil would explain it

why would i?

everyone thinks just because it has green doors its crap... well maybe is people see what the plans are and the fact that i have a EB fairmont ghia with full options and bodykit (with white doors) ready to go in that shell due to rust, then they would see why i have this shell... i only need to keep this motor going for another few months till i get it all here

I think i know what the problem is ( The yellow paint is disrupting the fuel supply within the injector rail ) Just stirring ya!

Sounds like coil .. Or dizzy/ignition mod..

yeah id say dizzy or coil, um its wont be flooding, unless you explain to me how you flood an EFI car.

so it may be an injector problem or something along those lines

ok, the yellow wasnt my doing... well i done it but it was for my mate who up untill last friday owned the car, he was looking for something unique and i think he found it... the motor isnt staying in there for long and im thinking about putting my black cover on it for some respect from people :P...

the way i 'flood' an efi car is that the sparkplugs arnt igniting, leaving a pool of fuel in the cylenders

well atleast thats how it feels when it finially starts. it shudders alot when it finially starts.
