my ef is making a rather loud tapping noise at the rear of the engine. i had my car serviced after i replaced the engine a couple of months ago and he said it sounds like a piston. but it hasnt gotten any worse so it shouldnt be anything internal. im assuming it could be the flex plate.

cheers

i had the same problem in my ef fairmont ghia,it was a shrunk piston, which resulted in a full rebuild!!!

flex plate could be loose, my flywheel bolts came loose and gawd it made a bad horrid noise lol especially when the flywheel was almost off......

sounded like a bearing noise.

yeah i deffinatly put oil in the converter. ill pull the gear box off on the weekend and see if any of the bolts are loose. im really hoping its not a shrunk piston but if it was wouldnt it be getting worse over time and i would notice a power lose. i deffinatly have power and the noise has stayed the same for a couple of months now.

cheers
