just wondering, if its possible to add a 3 inch cat back zorst without losing back pressure n power to a N/A i6...i know turbos usually have 3 inch turbo backs, but i herd a mate in a VS V6 commo tried a 3 inch cat back n it had no go, but maybe its different for the i6's perhaps? anyone tried it, i also know a friend who has a N/ skyline wagon, n it has a 3 inch cat back, but i dont know of its performance yet..

no need for bigger than a 2.5" on a I6 unless you've gone insane mods.

it not the back pressure that is the problem, it's the speed of the gas that is.

best advice don't do it. you loose to much air speed.

back pressure is a resistance to flow and more flow is what you are trying to achieve. but you can't sacrifice air speed for for less back pressure.
it's all a big balancing act. for a stock(ish) 4L 6cyl 2.5inch gives the best ballance between the two.

Ive got a 3inch cat back on my ea atm awaiting a turbo. i didnt loose any power although im pretty sure i didnt gain any either, its has a nice sound but does tend to back fire under compression braking. For the extra $200 or so it really isnt worth it unless forced induction is planned.

Both pacemaker and JMM extractors, terminate in a 2.5" flange - no point gettnig anything bigger.

what do you mean extra $200 ???

there should be no difference in cost for a 3 inch over 2.5

I think a 3 inch wil help.Less backpressure is always good. The reason why some cars run crap after is because of altered air fuel ratios.

Yeah for N/A the 2.5" would be fine....its only if your wanting the extra noise...although you will probably only get more droning.

To I know aaron (pyroay) had legality issues with his 3" setup - low cars with 3" setups the mufflers are very close to the ground.....

i was just wondering if getting a 3 inch cat back would hurt performance, im not after perofrmance gain from a 2.5, i was hoping that a 3 inch would have the same gain as a 2.5 but just havethat extra loud bang to it, but since it could possibly hurt perfomance being to big then ill forget bout it :)

JMM do a 3inch cat back in the BA dev2a kit. They claim it gives an extra 4rwkw over the 2.5''. That gain seems abit excessive on a six with just extractors and intake but the possibility of a gain is there.

Keep in mind the 4 valve BA head flows alot better, so can make use of the bigger exhaust.
