Just brought an NA fairlane with 3.9 multi point injetion, ever since i degreased the engine its running rough, when it first happened it would backfire through the intake an run like a dog pretty much all the time, dorve it for a bit (assuming it was some water in the dizzy) and it is slowly getting better, now i can drive normaly under 2g, from a take off it stutters a bit then goes fine, if im rolling(5k's or so) then it will take off normaly.

As i said it is slowly getting better but is there anything else i may have screwed up apart from water in the dizzy, i have been told i may water in the plugs, anything else that could be wrong?

Water in the dizzy sounds about right, wait a little bit longer and see what happens. How long has it been like this?

Take the cap of and spray some WD-40 in there, also around the plugs and coil.

it is easy... remove the air box and the intake piping between airbox and throttle body and u can get your hands straight to it... prolonged misfire can be bad for the coil so your far in front to remove the cap and dry it all out

i know the xf is a pain i am assuming (havnt looked at it yet) that the multi point would be even worse with the manifold going over the dizzy.

Plugs are easy as, Dissy is not too bad once you remove air box, coil is a prick but can be got to from underneath.

See how you go, if you really need a hand PM me, I'm home most of this week.
