Hey Guys

I have just built and installed a new engine for the old fairlane

I had it start and running for 20 seconds and switched it off

Run it again for another 20 seconds and switched it off.

It now wont run

It has fuel, everything is turning. Timing is spot on

It gives a cough every now and again like it going to run but wont

I have tested the spark, seems a bit yellow
I have tried another coil and still have the same issue

What would cause this to happen?

Any help would be great

Thanks

So seems that the dizzy in the engine has had a minor failure.
Turns out that after a few more tests it was flooding with fuel.

Changed the dizzy and plugs, no more flooding.

Gave it a crank over and it coughed but still didnt run.

After a bit more playing round, held throttle wide open and hit the key.
Cough and splutter (still a bit of excess fuel in the hole) away it finally went.
Reset base idle so it would at least idle, switched off then bridged wire to set base timing.
Reset base timing
Ran beautiful

Took for road test, only a 10k run but wow
Well worth the rebuild in the end
