Hi all,
I have just taken the plunge into the best Aus has to offer(1994 EF GLi, 5 speed). I have been lurking around for some time and looking at turbo kits(once the sale of my vectra goes through). What I was wondering is what I should be changing for my first service/freshen up. I was going to do the oil and plugs, then thought maybe there are a few other little things that the falcon needs over other cars.

A few little issues I have seen are, seems to be running very cold(I know its cold in melb but not that cold) the temp needle never really seems to get into anything other than the bottom 1/4 of the normal range(usualy lower). From a little reading this could be due to a dead thermostat(always open).

The current mods on her are, larger cat back exhaust(2.5 I think), sounds good, it has also been lowered from factory(What the previous owner said) she has got the xr6 rims on her too. I will post up some pics once I give her a wash.

Plans: LSD, suspension update(I like the height, just might add some swaybars and such), then a turbo(low boost, just for a bit of fun).

flush and drain the coolant, refill with new, replacee thermostatee, check brake pads, replace fuel filter, if your not sure if it's been serviced llately oor properly, then replace spark plugs, air filter, oil filter, oil. check your globes all work, check tyre pressures. that should keep you busy for an houur or three.

basic rules of buying a second hand car.

if it's wet change it
if it's lubricant change it
if it filters change it
if it has a set pressure check it

pretty much a full and complete servicee
get a wheel alignment done.

don't trust that the previous ownser was one to look after the car
