Hey all, i am going to get some exhaust work done on my 95 ef. I need to get the middle muffler replaced anyway because it is starting to rust through so i thought that i would go ahead and do the rest of the exhaust.
I am looking for a nice sounding loud exhaust, So is just replacing it from the muffler a good idea or would i wont to do it befor or after cat? also i am not to sure what to get on the back whether i would get just straight through pipe or a hot dog or just a normal resonator remembering i wont a nice sound. And i dont wont to spend to much money |

Lukey mufflers are good, and IIRC not too expensive.

i was just under my car and there is another smaller muffler befor the big one would it be a good idea to get this taken out?? is it legal to have only one muffler or does it go on the sound it makes?

Ask for a 2.5" Lukey sports system. You'll be given a choice if you want a resonator after the muffler or not, depending on the sound you want. Basically, the muffler place will replace your system from (after) the cat converter down. I had a lukey system with the big muffler and a small resonator...didn't want it to be too loud. I think it was $300 all up including a big oval chrome tip. Best is to ask around mate, it'll give you light.

I got a redback(spelling?) system put in. Just the one muffler no resonator, its not overly loud at all. Very nice engine note between 2000 and 3000rpm.
Cost $280 without tip.(tip extra $20) |

It's legal to have no mufflers, so long as the noise is below the requirement and you have your cat converter. It's just the sound that matters. I wouldn'tbother just replacing the muffler on the stock system, replace the piping too. |

Yea thats what i was saying because i HAVE to replace my muffler as it is rusting through i am going to do the whole back system. So i am thinking maby a lukey system with 2.5" pipe and 1 muffler i am going to pop into the local exhaust place tommorow and see what they think.

Ive got a Lukey Race muffler on my exhaust system and it sounds bloody wicked. Ive had it for a while now so the sound is really starting to come alive
 Does get a touch loud at times dueto having only the one muffler plus a Hi-flow cat but its not as bad as the engine growling believe me. 
I would also recommend redback, dynomax and Magnaflow as they are all good quality sports exhaust specialist.

I do want a loud sound ...but not to loud,I want it to turn a few heads but not the wrong heads if you knoe what i mean. at the moment i cant hear much, i want to be able to hear my exhaust.

yeah definitly go cat back system as opposed to replacing mufflers n s**t.
i got stainless steel 2.5 custom build with lukey stright through muffler. its sick.. then later on if ya want to you can do a high flow cat and xtractors for real sound and performance.. try without a hotdog, it will be loud, but you can always put one in later if its too much. lukey or redback prebuilt systems are good, not too expensive either.

Its basically same material as the straight thru sports mufflers only it has been welded and not clamped etc like the others are. But yeah it probally is stainless steel, but im not completely sure thou...

I was just wondering if the Race Mufflers, being the top of the range, were Stainless only or if the option was still there. |

I was thinking of replacing my exhaust, had a quote for $2000. For 3/4inch pacemakers, twin high flow cats, high flow mufflers and a redback 2.5inch system. It's the second quote for $2000, anyone got a better quote for a similar system?

I'd be guessing that for a V8, head to the V8 Workshop and ask there, it sounds high to me, but what would I know onlyever done it to a 6 cylinder! |
