Yeah i know, but this is a hard topic to search for!!

i noticed today that my car, at 4800rpm, has a massive miss. It feels almost like a rev limiter with how violent it is on the revs dropping and kicking back in. It does it at full throttle and at almost no throttle (ie: slowly bringing it up to those revs)

To give a bit of background, the car is a manual EF running an auto computer and the resistor mod. I have also cut the speed sender cable to the ECU. the ECU is still only learning cause its only done 100km since the computer was reset.

i have recently (last weekend) changed the fuel filter, and the air filter was cleaned only a week before that.

The car never did this before today.

i'm almost thinking that the car might have a rev limiter built in for when the car is in neutral and not moving. the auto ecu sees that the car is in nuetral (or is it drive?) because of the resistor mod, and the cut speed cable means it can't see the speed of the car.

any suggestions on where to start looking?

cheers
nic

I would suggest hooking a speed signal back up to the ecu. It probably has a lower rev limit when the ecu thinks its not moving.
