on starting up the car (ed falcon) there is an extreme amount of squeeling coming from uder the binnet for bout 10 15 seconds then it goes away. wondering if there is an oil dripping onto the pullies making the belt slip. also how hard is it to install a camber kit yourself

I doubt its oil thats causing the squeal. Check the tension of the alternator/water pump belt.

Being an ED it uses a serpantine belt and not the old V belts. Its more likely to be 1 or both of the tensioner pulleys are seizing causing the belt to squeel.

Umm no mate ED's are the last of the falcons 2 have a serpantine belt. EF was the first to have it.
Check the tension of all ur belts, u might need to replace them.

Cheers

Hmm and i thought it was EB 2 onwards that ran the serpentine! i do know that the EA's had problems with the rocker cover leaking oil on the front from the D shaped seal, it would then spray and or run onto the water pump belt which also runs the power steer.

My Ef never made a peep till i split a power steering line then the belt started squealing.
Bit of degreaser to clean it up then a can of non slip belt from local auto shop did the trick
prob not the best advice to rev a cold engine to rid the squeaks though :)

true that, if its been left over night itl squel and it should dissappear in 30 secs or so. as long as you dont bounce it off the limter it should be right. like EF XR6 said, probably not the best thing to do to a dead cold engine

as said i would be checking the tension of belts and quality of the bearings in the pulleys.
my belt used to squeak when my battery was a bit flat and the alternator was working over time

after many attemps to fix squeeling belts, i have noticed that my waterpump pulley is out of line. i have spoken to my brother who is the manager of a natrad radiator specialist in perth, and he said that the waterpump & pullies between EA & ED are identical and they changed on the EF, so it is not possible to fit the wrong part. HELP ME PLEASE

Once your belts start to squeel - they start to become glazed and more likely to squeel even when properly tensioned. So if your belt is crappy and squeels heaps - then do yourself a favor and buy a new belt and tension it properly.
