Hey guys just interested to see a new problem on my car lol. Ive noticed a while back that my oil pressure was dropping when idling to the point that i would get a warning beep from my car, it turned out that i had a rocker cover leak and the oil was low. But now that is all fixed (thanks to phongus haha) and now ive noticed that the oil pressure is at normal levels while i drive, however when i am at a set of lights and the car is idling the oil pressure drops down again (not to the point of getting the warning signal). Any ideas why my car cant maintain oil pressure when idling?

Also posted something about my gas on the car playing up also, seems to be worse as the car gets hotter but also if i drive on the freeway for a long period of time and then take an exit and come to a set of lights relatively quickly the car will more often that not cough n stall. It doesnt hav to be after freeway driving as a lot of the time when the car gets heated up the gas will start running rough and cough and stall. Somebody mentioned it could be my injectors but when i drive it on petrol it never has this stalling issue even in the same circumstances, so would that rule that out?

Appreciate the help guys hope everyone is having good car karma in the new year lol

Hi,

The Oil pump is mechanical and runs off the motor. More revs, more Oil pressure. That is normal. Similar to the Volt meter, lower at idle.

/\ /\ Zigactly - and if it's ever TOO low you'll get that warning (for those who have that function in their cluster) - and/or you'll HEAR it - ie. clattery engine.

If it does concern you, you can always run thicker oil. Mine used to drop to the point of the warning buzzer at idle when hot when I was running 15w40. Now on 20w50 and no problems. :)
