this is for people that are suffering from low oil pressure gauge problems.

this is not an actual low oil pressure problem, this is a gauge inaccuracy recognised by FORD, these engines have very good oil pressure and will do for quite awhile.

hope this helps those worrying about oil pressure problems.

Ah, learning a few truths at the dealership I take it?

So i assume this is a result of the fact its an electronic gauge? i.e. fitting a better/more responsive sender unit would not fix the problem?

i understand that you can get a gauge that is calibrated slightly different, but i'm not sure what gauge or what calibration it is.

if anyone is seriously worried after reading this i recommend going to an instrument specialist and gfetting it calibrated professionally, that way you can be absolutely sure. or a new oil pressure sender is around the $40 mark that also should fix the problem.

as for learning the truth's at the dealership, i am here to help and find out as much i can so we can all learn. ore than happy to find out anything about any ford to help people.

that maybe that your tappets are stuffed rather than and oil pressure problem.

if the engine is given a pressure test and it comes bak fine, would the low oil pressure warning be caused by this faulty gauge/sender?

I have also noticed that when the Volt meter is down the oil pressure is way low and obviously when its sitting at 12 - 13volts the oil pressure reads about 1/2-3/4 way.

Thats about the only time i notice it. :)

my oil pressure gauge is always, i mean always, on high, standing straight up, its got power cause its sits back down on nothing when the car is off the rises back to full when i start the car, could there be no sender attached to the dash for the oil pressure gauge?

mrnasty i would be looking to see if you have the proper oil pressure sender you might just have a oil pressure switch, this can happen when the cluster is up graded to have oil pressure gauge ,the oil pressure sensor needs to be changed aswell, if its just a oil pressure switch it would give the pegged needle affect

If you have a look at these items on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 98675&rd=1 , it will give you an idea of what the switch sort of looks like - a sender unit is similar, but the plastic cylindrical back is about another inch and a half longer. The sender part number is in the Fordmods parts database.
