Can anyone help I've just put an EL motor into an EF I'm having problems with oil pressure, I've only just noticed the sump is pushed in at the deep end of the pan, I'm picking this may cause dramas with the oil pick-up getting the oil. Takes awhile to build-up pressure when cold, but then once pressure is up all is well until you power it. If you think this is the problem is it possible to change sump whilist in the car? :(

pick-up is most likly damged. really should have pulled the pan off and checked it before it went in the hole.

i'd get a proper test gauge onto it first, just to confirm it's actually the pressure that is the problem or the gauge

if you want to remove the dent in the sump you can get a cheap dent puller from supercheap. it will have a threaded end, just weld a few nut of teh right thread to sump screw in the puller and carefuly pull the dents out.
do not try and get the dent out in one go, use 5 or 6 nuts spred out evenly and work them all, don't focus on one nut or you may tear a hole in the sump
when you're done grind the nuts back

If the sump is dented it has probably damaged the pickup AND maybe the oil pump should be thoroughly checked before more damage happens ( like bearings etc)

yeah just enough if you remove the radiator and the a/c condensor etc or move them ouyt of the way to keep the gas (yes i have done this)

otherwise drop the k-frame

else pull the motor back out.
