compressed AU gasket is around the 19 to 21 thou mark.

min P/H clearance you should consider running is 35thou.

heat expansion and piston rock at TDC can cause the piston and head to touch.

Ok dyno results are in, 154 rwkts with afr around 12.8. A bit dissapionted but having only spent $1800 I suppose I can't comlpain. Have spoken with the guy that did the head and machine work, has said that 20 thou piston to head is fine, also said that comp is around 10.5:1. The next thing is to try and get the afr right and try to find a chip at the right price. might play around with the spare manifold, throttle body and injectors.

what about piston to valve?
the valves start opening before the piston reaches TDC, an aftermarket cams make this worse....

Ok, I had a big chat to the guy who did the machine work face to ace today at a Bathurst day BBQ.(GO FORD!) Deck height is 15 thou. MY BAD!!!! I mis understood what he told me the other day. He was saying that 20 thou gasket was fine, I didn't measure deck height ,it just looked like the piston was level with the block,(15 thou not easy to see by eye)   I know better now, Thanks guys for all the advice and concern. I feel like a right knob for the misunderstanding. LOL at me

Still unsure of piston to valve, didn't measure anything, my mate who did the head & stuff did all of that, then gave me the parts and i just put the big lego set together. Used a new timing set and havn't had any problems with timing chain noise at all, just noisy HLA's which i have been told can be normal with a reground cam.

no need to feel like a knob. better off asking and finding out the answer, then not asking and finding out the hard way.

Nah man you're right, very thankful for the advice, I'm a motor trimmer not a mechanic so advice is always good. I was once told that the only stupid question, is the one you don't ask.

That stupid question at times end up as the most important question! lol

If you're not sure, then ask. you'll probably get flamed for asking a silly question but at the end, you'll have your answer! lol
