i know this topic would have been asked already but i cant find any info regarding fitting a pod filter into the standard airbox on an AU 6 cylinder. does it fit without modifying the airbox at all? if so is it worthwhile doing?

Yes it is big enough to house a pod filter easily.

Pod filter or high flow panel filter much of a muchness in all reality, but pod sounds better :) .

There will be very little rwkw's gained from either high flow pod or panel filter, but the throttle response will be a little more snappy and it will feel to breath a little easier.

Full working BA Shifter now upgraded to BF Shifter.

its definately worth it .i fitted one of JMM cai kits to our au2 .it lost a bit below 2400rpm but more than made up for it in top end.
i don't think there would be much difference between a pannel and pod filter .
the best gains you'd get would be from grinding out your air box lid and fitting a piece off 3 inch pipe from that flexi hose elbo back to the back of your air box lid

If you look on > workshop you will see an article and instructions on how to put a pod into the standard airbox... althought unless your changing the rest of the intake pipe to 3in, you might aswell just get a panel filter..

I did mine using 3" bendy pipe (corrugated) type stuff. Unbolt the bit that the existing pipe contects to on the airbox as it makes the hole much bigger. Then put your pipe thru the hole and connect pod to it. If you want you can go to the trouble of buying a pod adapter etc. The pipe cost me $20 from a pool shop. $12/mtr
