EA-EB Series 1 may have had a different belt - didnt they move to a 3 groove V-Belt on EB II?

I had an issue on my EB II with the belt being thrown off, and it came down to getting a different belt. I think the solid belts Tended to walk up the pulley under extreme er... forces, and the Dayco Top Cog belt didnt - from memory. Fixed my problem.

Last time I had a problem like this it was my harmonic balancer had slipped forward. Caused belts to rub and squeal and spit off.

Just my two bob worth

Bottom hose is smaller on the EF/EL, than the ED.....the water pump must be changed as it too is different size, and the water pump turns backwards on EF/EL- later.
If you use a log manifold, you will need the XH ute belt tensioner.

so i drove the car again on the weekend, and keeping it under 3.5K revs it didnt spit the belt,
with the powersteering pump, is it common for them to bend? or the mounts to bend?
i would like to avoid a serperntine conversion as it is still a bit of work. obviously its the better option tho considering i have one handy aswell.

Idler pulley, no. The bearing seems okay minimal play. The pump also has very minimal play in wards and out. It just looks like with a string line the pump or it's mounts have bend as the motor side of ps pulley has a gap with a strong from idler too pulley. Is this common? The gap is probably a 4-5mm

I ended up taking the balencer out again and running a tap up the thread to clean it out then tried the bolt and it went te whole depth. Bit of sandpaper on the ballencer, and it pulled in a lot easier, it's the kinda bolt u wanna do with a rattle gun to make sure you have it. Since I did that no more belt coming off. Was only f#ck all but only takes a little bit of misalignment
