Probably heard this before but I notice virtually no difference in my mild EF with 98 Octane, but the difference in my Au2 is huge!. It runs like absolute crap :( on standard 91 RON. Does anyone else have this problem?

thats what i was gonna say lol

i spose its not just the only benefit of performance that premuim gives you, i mean, bp ultimate, has adatives that cleans carbon deposits out of ur motor, n its also extra km per full tank..so some might see the difference in fuel econ, but not performance, some cars are different

please correct me if i am wrong..... BUT a premium fuel should only make a big difference in an electronically control injected car, because the car then changes the injection rates ect ect.
Where as if the car isnt electronically controlled injection, then the only thing a premium fuel does is to pretty much clean the system out and give a cleaner injection with a cleaner fuel.

yeah thats what i ahve heard carby engines running 98 barley makes a difference but in my old eb and my now el going from a empty tank of unleaded to 98 makes a difference and i get an extra 100 k easy when i travel

also worked out as i work at a bp

when paying for $100 bucks of fuel (at out curreent price) ya get

Unleaded =70.47 L @ $1.51 L
Ultimate = 65.83 L @ $1.41 L

even thogh its 10cents a litre more after buying $100 you get 5 litres less when buying 98 Ultimate but i can get and extra 100k's out a tank of ultimate. and i cant get a 100k's out of 5 litres of fuel so im sticking to the ultimate. i laso talk to tourists and they say that in the end its cheap[er to run on 98 when travelling.

PS yeah i know our fuel prices are insane

Ran a XD 4.1 X/flow with the standed 91 RON unleaded on the way back from Canberra & it over heated & cut out at lights + ratttled & lost power up hills. With the 95/98 RON it runs Ok.

My nephew has a modified 2000 model WRX & has found when running the BP ultimate it makes the power drop off. Running the Mobil & Shell 98 octanes it performes better. I cannot tell the difference in the AU VCT mtr.

Ok i found vortex to be the same as regular, optimax was better but the best was ultimate. now this was over 3 tanks each. i first used ultimate and a big improvment was found on the 3rd fill so hence cleaning if the fuel system.
Now this new ethanol mix(94ron) im not touching it as my car is a 97 EL, they say its suitable for post 98 falcons. Remember ethanol is what makes spirits you drink so therefore its water soluable. its breakes down the fuel lines and blocks the fuel system. ethanol does have a lower octane than petrol also.

Accidental posting of three times. the au has exractors, cat back exhaust, tickford air intakes, Ef airbax & a K&N. the ef the same except it has a pod & no extractors. It doesn't affect the EF

I tried that arguement as I have a BP fuel card. My boss told me to stop putting in ultimate, I argued It works out cheaper due to the extra Km's & I have tested this theory with trips to Brisbane Sydney return. He agreed but said it doesn't work like that around the city. Hence me finding out since last week the au hates 91 RON :cry:

Around town on unleaded 425kms shell95ron 500kms optimax 550kms I will never go back to ordinary unleaded. The GTHO I own will only run on optimax ( and then not at it's best ) really needs avgas but it is too expensive to run all the time :twisted:
