guys, just wanted to run this by you for some help.

my ED does not start easily when hot. when i go to start it after driving for a while and stopping, it does not fire, just simply turns over. after 2-3 keys of the ignition it finally starts.

when cold it doesn't have this problem. i've changed the leads, dizzy and spark plugs and now i think it may be the fuel side- either pump or fuel regulator bleeding pressure off.

how can i troubleshoot this?

cheers

I have the exact same problem. It will start fine in the morning but when hot I have to do several key turns before it fires over. (very rarerly starts on first key turn when hot)

Runs fine though when started. I have had it into a few mechanics who had no idea what was wrong, so I have pretty much given up.

Electrically 3 things to check

1 Spark Plug and coil leads are less than 20000 Ohms

2 TFI Module ( Little grey thing that sits on the side of the dizzy) may be stuffed

3 Ignition coil may be becoming stuffed

try these first

My friend had the same problem, replaced all the above and it still was hard to start till the starter moter died.

I fitted new bushes to the starter moter and it never strained again to start when it was hot

This was stumped me too until I found the answer on this site about a year ago. The problem is your smart Lock computer located just above the park break. If you turn the key and it wont start give the area behind the park break a quick whack while turning it.

Hope it helps

Ah bugger! I was going to suggest the fuel pump as I had a similar problem a while back.

Not to mention the smartlock problem too. I took out the module, pulled it apart and gave it a very careful clean. My car now starts everytime without fail.

Another thing to mention is to check the voltage in your battery - it could be dirty terminals to a poorly charged battery.
