i disconnected the ford standard radio out of my 1994 ef futura, tried putting in a cd player, wouldn't work. read up on the smartlock system, because my car wouldn't start, i did the waiting for 30mins with no accecories on, and it worked but then i turned my car off and tried to start again, and wouldn't start.
any ideas.
cheers.
BTW, my car runs on gas aswell.

Surely u checked all fuses,

Seems to me you've shorted something out.

No idea why it worked after 30 or so minutes, the smart lock is irrelevant to the Radio.

Other suggestions would be ignition barrel contact/wires.

when it wont start try tapping the panel directly above or to the right of the handbrake (can't remember which) The wire in the body control module for starting come's loose

If it is this any decent auto elec can fix this all it involves is pulling the two starter wires out of the back of the module and twisting them together.

This will bypass smartlock reading the key hence solving the problem. All other functions of smartlock will work as normal.

Be carefull though there are only a few wires in that module that can be removed without shutting down smartlock and the car completely.

My mate has had this done and hasn't had a problem in two years
