hi

where abouts should temperature gauge on a sorts dash in a ed fairmont 6 cyl sit on in summer (Meaning which letter on the normal should the needle sit) ?

what does it mean if when you stop somewhere in summer and hop back in your car and start it again the temperature gauge shoots up to the L on a ed 6 cyl sports dash and goes back to about the O R on the gauge in hot weather?

what does it mean if the gauge shoots upto the L when you start our car again and take off and it goes back to the O-R with the aircon on,thermostats a 82 degree thermostat and got a 91 degree one ready for a new hd radiator. new thermostats had the little pin taken out so its only a hole in te side and the current ones got the pin still in it.

and also with a hd 38mm radiator where should a temp gauge read in the sports dashes

If you turn your engine off the water pump stops so the coolant does get hotter in the engine. If you start the car again it is normal for the guage to read the temp of the hotter coolant until the thermostat opens and pumps cooler coolant back into the engine which normalises the temp.
