Hi,
I have an AUII and have noticed I've been loosing coolant on some occasions, admittedly its been on hotter days than normal and with the aircon running. The cap is a bit old and there seems to be a sign of oxidisation in the centre of the cap? Could this cap be faulty or would something else be causing the coolant to overflow? Thanks, Peter |

all ways wise to check over motor so you get a better idea of what it maybe ..... could be cap, heater tap, thermostat housing, rad hoses, head gasket, heater hoses etc. also water leakage ya talkin about 'maybe' from aircon not coolant.

Thanks, Peter Does it run out the Header Tank overfow? It usually happens a few minutes after you shut down the engine and the coolant gets heatsoak from the lack of circulation through the block. have a look or put a PET bottle under the overflow hose and see what happens. If it collects alot of liquid, change the Rad Cap. If no ovrflow, then you need to look elswhere. |

Yeah, I checked all those places, no sign of any leakage in those locations. |

SWC,
Yes, it does run out from the Header Tank overflow. It has not been happening all the time, just occasionally. Couple of occasions it was below the maximum level line but above minimum level line. |

SWC,
No worries, I can do that. The only place I purchased Radiator Caps in the past has been from SuperCheap (Super Expensive) for a different make. Would any Radiator Cap for a Ford AUII do, or does it need to be a specific type? Thanks |

Not sure about AUs but if i fill my BA to max line when cold it always will spill coolant out the over flow after i shut it down.
My tank is now half way between min and max with coolant when cold. When its at operating temp it rises to the max line and has been better. Thats with a new cap also. Maybe allow room in yours for expansion like i do.

One of these are very helpful and durable + lets you know what the exact temp is in expansion tank,comparing temp from it to the temp on gauge will let you know if there's a problem in the system or flow problem.

Thanks mate, good idea, my temp gauge is not numbered in increments, just a red needle tht points to C then up to N or O, its been sitting on O for a while since having the aircon regassed, always sat at N or slightly below. Cheers |
