Hello, im gonna rebuild an AU motor, problem is when turboing or Supercharging ive been told to lower compression for Bigger boost, so my question becomes when rebuilding the engine what kit is best, or can i get a high compression kit and lower with an ECU or somthing, i dont no how these things work!

compression cant be lowerd by the ecu

more boost you want lower compression youl need( safer on engine to)

normaly people get a decompression gasket

hey

strip the engine first and get the block and crank and cam checked out and get them cleaned up accordingly, they may need to get machined

then order parts to suit

yes high boost loves low compression

cheers bear

Why do i need low compression? does boost increase it? can head work be done for flow without increasing? i mean whats the best way....ive been convinced Turbo has more potential so thats the route!

Ive had a look ive read hi compression+ boost is not always bad, a car can have hi compression and low boost and make similer power as low compression and hi boost!
Its confusing

u should be able to tune it and all that but wat im goin to do is:

Grab a VCT motor strip it down and but new pistons, rods, bearings, valve, ect.
Then ill clean it, paint the sump, block blue, make the head siver, and have a metallic red VCT roker cover, then run a supercharger setup like Troyman's ED, but i could go with a turbo, but with is better

i dont think its neccesary to build an engine with lower compression unless you want to push huge amounts of boost into it..
a std 4.0l can take up to 10-12psi boost providing the tune is right...

Thanks Troyman for straight shooten! i might rebuild and lower it slightly for higher boost, in you experiance do you think that will be a street winner!
